I am pleased to share the news that Indigo Light Therapies will be running a dedicated Acupuncture for Teens clinic, to provide mental health and well-being support for teenagers aged 13 – 17 years old.
The clinic will be open on Saturdays, from 9.30am – 2.00pm in Daventry town centre from October 2023.
Improving mental health and well-being in teenagers
Research shows that one in seven 10-19 year olds experience mental disorders (WHO, 2021).
Mental and emotional issues that start during this vulnerable period can cause problems with social relationships, academic performance, physical health, sleep and overall well-being. These issues can impact quality of life throughout teenage years and in to adulthood.
Sometimes, mental health imbalances can lead to diagnosed mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, self harm and addictions.
How can acupuncture help?
Traditional Acupuncture works by bringing the body, mind and spirit in to a state of balance, so that healing can occur. In Chinese medicine, emotional health imbalances are viewed energetically, and the role of the practitioner is to clear blocks and build the patient’s constitution in order to improve health and well-being.
Benefits for teenagers include;
- support with challenging emotions
- manage diagnosed mental health conditions
- reduce stress
- improve sleep
- improve self-esteem
- increase self-awareness and mental clarity
- a natural medicine tool – an alternative to conventional medicine and talking therapies
Sessions involve the use of fine needles and moxa, carried out in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
